MARY ETHEL ELIZABETH (Beth) OLIVER (nee Lorimer)

July 14, 1928 - October 13, 2010


Beth Oliver peacefully passed away in her home on Oct. 13, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Beth was born on July 14, 1928 to Herb and Mamie Lorimer of Pope, MB. She was educated at Kenton and Crandall Schools, and then the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg earning her Nursing RN diploma in 1949. In 1951 she married Lloyd Oliver of Miniota. Beth worked in various hospitals around Miniota being well respected for her work in Hamiota, Elkhorn and Birtle hospitals. She retired from nursing in 1993. Her new career was being a full time golfer, gardener, bridge player and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of the Miniota United Church, the Parkissimo Lodge board, and the Miniota Welcoming Committee. She lived all her happy married life in the home they built together. Beth was actively involved in the family farm. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and community member. Family and friends gathered on Oct. 16 at the Miniota United Church in celebration of a life well lived. Pallbearers were: Dallas Oliver, Robin Oliver, Jordan Moffatt, Ted Oliver, Travis Oliver and Michael Croft.

Interment followed at the Miniota cemetery and a reception followed at the Miniota hall.

Beth is survived by her husband Lloyd, sons Dennis (Beth), Brian (Mary-Jean), Darcy, daughters, Julia (Bryan) Schettler, Betty (Paul) Croft, sister Marg Brown, brother Colin Lorimer and numerous grandchildren. Beth was predeceased by her parents, Herb and Mamie Lorimer, her sister Patsy Lorimer, sons Ted Oliver and Paul Oliver and grandson Tyler Oliver.
