Edward John Webber

EDWARD JOHN WEBBER PASSES
The sudden passing of Edward John Webber (74) at noon
on Friday October 3 in Hamiota Hospital was received with sincere regret.
He suffered a stroke on Tuesday morning and it was thought Thursday night
that he was on the road to recovery.
Mr. Webber was born in Somerset, England in 1884 and came to Shoal Lake
at the age of 23. He was married in 1912 and they farmed at Shoal Lake
and Decker before moving to Crandall in 1932. He retired to Crandall
in 1947 after his wife died. Five years later he married Mrs. M. Smith
of Winnipeg who survives him. There are also two
sons, Norman and Reginald of Crandall and three daughters,
Mrs. Roy Lamport (Hazei), Melita, Mrs J. Harman (Joan), Melita and
Muriel of Winnipeg.
There are 16 grandchildren. Mr. Webber was noted for his quiet wit,
good humour and dependability. He was a member of the Orange
Lodge, Crandall United Church, and the Curling Club.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. Friebert on Monday
October 6th at McConnell's Chapel, Hamiota with interment in the
family plot at Crandall Cemetery. Pallbearers were K. Smith,
G. Johnson, C. Lewis, R. Kitz, L. Lipscombe, I. Lewis.
Honourary Pallbearers: S. Lawn, J. Norrice, S. Robus, S. S Lewis,
D. H. Richardson, G. Doupe.
