George Norrie Dies of Wounds in Italy
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. John Norrie and family of Isabella
who have received the word that their son, Pte. George Norrie, has died of
wounds whilst in action in Italy. George enlisted in the Calgary
Highlanders in January 1940 and at the time of his death he was with the
Field Ambulance and was wounded on Saturday, September 23rd and died on
Sunday, September 24th.
George, who would have been 29 years old next month, was born at
Crandall and his sense of duty led him to offer his services when the call
went out for men. He had seen much action on other sectors, and then on to
Italy.
He has made a sacrifice for us; in order that we may eventually, enjoy
the blessings that will come with Peace.
He leaves to mourn, his parents and three sisters, Mrs E. Shier, Crandall;
Mrs. M. Begg, Winnipeg, and Thelma, at home, and six brothers, William and
Frank with the Canadian Forces in Belgium, Charlie, a Prisoner of War in
Germany, and Gordon, Cyril and Archie at home.
