Mary Violet Lawrence (nee Cornish)

1893 - May 3, 1981


LAWRENCE — Mary Violet passed away after a brief illness in the Plains Hospital, Regina, Sask. on Sunday, May 3rd in her 88th year.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Bert Lawrence, 2 daughters, Violet Torfason of Lethbridge, Alberta; Helen Nelson, Transcona, Man.; and one son Ivan at Crandall, Man.

She was predeceased by one son, Kenneth who died in the services of his country in 1944. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Lena Lawrence and 2 sons-in-law Bill Torfason and Ken Nelson, nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a brother Richard Cornish predeceased Mrs. Lawrence. A sister Mrs. Myrtle Simpson, Brandon and three brothers - Leslie, Robert and Victor Cornish of Rapid City survive.

Funeral services were held on May 7th at 2 p.m. in the Crandall Church with Rev. Tom N. Delgaty officiating. Interment was in the Crandall Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lawrence, Cliff, Stan and Dennis Nankivell, Brian Johnston and Jack Fleming.

Honourary pallbearers were: Mr. and Mrs. G. Shier, Mr. and Mrs. S. Doupe, Mr. and Mrs. R. Lepine, Mr. I. Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. L. Kelly, Mrs. E. Nett, Mr. and Mrs. R. Coveney.

The ushers were Mr. G. White and Mr. W. Cowling. A group of Mary's long term friends sat as a body.

Mrs. Lawrence will long be remembered in her community for her active part and interest she took in all events.

In lieu of flowers donations were received for the heart fund.
