Rachel Miller (nee Chapman)

1881 - June 13, 1946

Mrs. William Miller

A link with the past was severed on Thursday, June 13th, when a pioneer of the Harding and Blaris districts was called to a higher estate, in the person of Mrs. William Miller, in her 65th year.

In December, 1900, Rachel Chapman, of Harding, was married to William Miller, and during the forty years that the couple have lived in the Blaris district, their home was always open to all, and they both worked to build the community, that today, has its church and school, and its community undertakings rank among the best of any. But these pioneers are, as we all must, passing on, but, leaving us a priceless heritage, gained by their honesty of purpose and endeavour. Their character and lives have been an inspiration and it is with reluctance that we take our leave from these good people.

Very many attended the funeral services held on Friday, and conducted by Rev. H.I. Bowman. Burial was made in Crandall cemetery. There were floral tributes.

There are two daughters: Mrs. E.L. Sunley, Blaris, and Laura, at home, and five sons, Clayton, Kenora; and Lorne, Earl, Levi and Edmund at home.
