Ronald Laurence Coveney
February 28, 1932 - October 06, 2010
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Laurence
after a short illness on Oct. 6, 2010.
He was born in Newmarket, ON. on Feb. 28, 1932, the son of
Harold and Helen Coveney.
Growing up he enjoyed all sports, and particularily hockey where
he excelled at the midget, juvenile and junior levels. In
1951 he joined the Canadian Army Signal corps and enjoed tours
of duty in Kingston, Ottawa, Fort Churchill, Toronto and Fredericton.
While in Churchill, he met Beverley Ann Hyndman whom he married on Dec. 16, 1956 at
Crandall United Church. In 1960, he retired from the military with
the rank of Sergeant, and came back to Crandall to start farming on the
Harvey Hyndman farm. They later moved to the Bill and Georgina Hyndman
farm and stayed there until retiring and selling the farm in 1996.
They subsequently moved to Morden to be close to their daughter, Shelley
and her family.
Ron is survived by wife Beverley Ann, son Shane (Karen) in Ottawa, ON. and daughter
Shelley Hamilton (David) and grandchildren Derek and Julie Hamilton.
A family interment was held in the Crandall Cemetery.
