Thomas Wilfred Hamilton

Dr. T.W. Hamilton
Dies In Saskatchewan
Dr. Thomas Wilfred Hamilton, medical superintendent at Fort San San, Sask.,
since 1933, died there Tuesday. Born in Crandall, Man., Dr. Hamilton graduated
from the Manitoba Medical college in 1921, and was appointed to the staff at
Fort San immediately following his graduation. He took post graduate courses
in Chicago and London, England, being appointed superintendent in 1933.
Dr. Hamilton was a member of both Masonic order and Kiwanis club at
Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask.
He is survived by his widow, Clare, two sons, Blair
and Greg, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Emmett, of St. James;
and Miss Edna J. Hamilton, of Winnipeg; his mother, Mrs. Mary Hamilton, residing
with her daughter, Miss Edna, in Winnipeg.
The funeral service will be held
Thursday at 2.45 p.m. in Gardiner's funeral chapel, with Rev. J.E. Jones
officiating. Burial will be made in St. James cemetery. The
pallbearers will be Dr. A.M. Goodwin , Dr. E. Ross, Dr, H.D. Kitchen,
Dr. D.J. Fraser, Dr. H. Morrison and A. Chaffe.

"T. Wilfred attended elementary school in Crandall, intermediate school in
Hamiota, and then entered Brandon Collegiate to complete his matriculation
standing. He enrolled in the Arts Course in Brandon College
(now Brandon University), but later decided on a medical career and
transferred to the Manitoba School of Medicine in Winnipeg.
In 1915 his education was interrupted when he enlisted in the llth
Field Ambulance Corps.( #531745 ) He served three years overseas in World War I.
On his return from military service, he re-entered Medical School to
continue his studies leading to his degree of M.D. After graduating,
Dr. Hamilton joined the staff of the Fort Qu'Appelle Tuberculosis
Sanatorium. In 1935 he was granted leave of absence to do post graduate
work in Chicago and in London, England. On completion of these advanced
studies, he was appointed Medical Superintendent of the above-mentioned
institution. This position he held until his untimely death in 1946.
He is buried in St. James Cemetery, Winnipeg."
