It was hard to believe on Tuesday evening, June 21, the report that
William (Bill) Williams had gone. The tractor be was cranking on the
Leonard Lipscomb farm, back-fired, striking him on the head. He was
rushed to Hamiota hospital but died a few hours later.

community. In May, 1939, he married Katherine Lawson.
In 1940 he enlisted in the Tank corps and served for five years overseas.
Upon returning he purchased their home in Crandall.
Bill, as he was more familiary known, took a very active part in sports
and community affairs. He was Deputy Master of the Loyal Orange Lodge,
and the brethren of the order and sisters of the Loyal Orange Benevolent
Association attended the service in a body, the latter serving as flower
bearers.
The funeral held on Thursday last in the United church was conducted by
Rev. J.M. Wilson. The casket, laden with roses, was laid to rest in
Crandall cemetery, by L. Lipscomb, F.A. Shoemaker, R. Vance, J. Walker,
H. Hall and K. Kidd.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, George and Larry; his
father, R. Williams, Melita; seven brothers, John, Bissett; James,
