Patricia Helen Duke
March 16, 1919 - December 4, 1997
DUKE, Patricia Helen. Pat passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, around 12:30 a.m., December 4, 1997
after suffering an unexpected and acute cardiac episode on the evening of December 2. Born in Crandall, Manitoba on March 16, 1919,
she was raised on the Prairies and later studied nursing at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, where she received her R.N. While in Ottawa
she met and married Ronald L. (Ron) Duke and moved to Banff in 1945, living there ever since. Pat was a true mountain person with
a great love of the outdoors, where she found peace, beauty and inspiration. Imbued with a strong sense of service, Pat came into
contact with many people during her years as a nurse at the Mineral Springs Hospital, and through her volunteer work in the
community with various groups, including the United Church, and the Banff Senior's Association. Pat will be greatly missed by her
children, Jim (Lois) Duke of Calgary and granddaughter Natasha; Kathy (Reid) Campbell and grandchildren, Forrest, Michael and
Jean of Invermere; and Dave (Deborah) Duke and granddaughter Jenna of Vernon; as well as many others near and far. A Memorial
Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 1997 at Rundle Memorial United Church, 302 Buffalo Street in Banff.
