Display Ponds Over-wintering House
(Unless otherwise indicated, photos by not by Don)

Was located in Douglas Park.
West of the Area 4 Wascana Depot.
Opened in 1979, demolished in 2016.

The purpose of this structure was to provide a winter home for the injured waterfowl from the Display Ponds. Pelicans, Swans, Snow Geese, as well as the numerous others, attracted a loyal following especially amongts the children, many of whom returned every spring just to see their "old friends". The birds were brought here before freeze-up and returned in the spring for the people to enjoy. Many elementary students school trips visted in the winter. In the winters of 2016/17 and 17/18 the birds were sent out of the province and returned in the spring. In the fall of 2018 all birds were sent away for ever.
