Planning a visit to Willow Island? Or looking for an unique spot for an event?
Why look any further. This man-made island, located in the north east area of Wascana Lake (near Broadway Avenue & Wascana Drive) offers something that cannot be truly experienced anywhere else in Regina, an ISLAND.

Willow's not just an island. Two firepits, several barbecues, picnic tables, washrooms, water fountain.
Don't forget about the ferry ride over, not usually a long ferry ride, but image where you will be. There are no bridges to the island (last one demolished in the 1960's) so Willow can be thought of
as an sense isolation within the middle of a city.

So who actually comes to Willow Island?
That can best be answered by describing past visitors.
Individuals just wanting a quick look or somewhere to relax for awhile, perhaps a quick meal break away from the same old lunch room or cafeteria they're stuck in everyday.

Families and friends having a barbecue.

Kids birthdays parties are tremendously popular, for many it is not only their first time on a boat, but also on an island. Backyard birthday, or an island birthday? Wonder which the children would prefer.

A summer band program has used the island for its course end event for several years now.

Elementary classes have also made regular use over the years for their end of classes party. Sit at a desk and eat a cookie, or goto Willow and have some fun? Tough choice.

Bands. Family reunions. Small work get togethers.

Yukon / NWT / Nunavut Canada Games Committee had a function here in 2005.

Weddings.
Many have been married on Willow Island. Small weddings from a dozen or so guests, to weddings of closer to 200 have been held.
Frequently the ceremony is on the island with the reception elswhere, but caterers and musicians are not an unusual inclusion.
It is an outdoor site, as such at the whim of nature. If planning a wedding it is a good idea to have a backup plan in case of rain, high winds, tidal wave, tornado, etc.
